9am lap dance club blocked

A LAP-DANCING club popular with City bankers has failed in a bid to serve alcohol until 9am on Mondays.
The owner of the Platinum Bar in Paul Street, near Old Street roundabout, was told that the hours extension would mean workers and children having to share the street with revellers on a Monday morning.
Jeremy Rowe, head of the independent Lyceum School in Paul Street, said: “Avoiding the drunken patrons of the Platinum Club mid-morning on a Monday is a hazard that children and teachers should not have to deal with.”
The original application was to extend the alcohol licence until 9am on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
In the face of protests, the owners asked for the Monday extension to be until 5am.
Councillors on the licensing panel granted the extension on Saturday morning but blocked changes for Sunday and Monday mornings.
