'Money and greed' rule in £2bn development plan

MASSIVE proposals to redevelop King’s Cross are about money and business interests, and ultimately represent a missed opportunity for the existing community, planning chiefs were warned last night (Wednesday).
The grim prediction came during the first of two extended meetings at the Town Hall which will decide whether developers Argent Limited can begin work on their £2-billion designs for the vast expanse of land behind King’s Cross and St Pancras stations which critics fear will become another Canary Wharf.
Councillors will reach a final decision tonight (Thursday) but they have already heard from a steady stream of protesters who are adamant that the scheme must be stopped in its tracks. Campaigners – who put together more than 20 deputations last night (Wednesday) – want panel members to throw out the plans.
