TIMELESS British farce Thark makes a rare but welcome appearance Upstairs at the Gatehouse this week.
The accident-prone Ronnie, nephew to the philandering Sir Hector Benbow, vows to stay in the Thark manor to disprove its haunted reputation. Ben Travers’ sriotous piece, first performed in 1927, is on until September 21.

TWINS are in the ascendancy at The Cockpit Theatre this week when Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors is reworked with seaside themes and physical theatre. To mark the tale of Antipholus searching for his long-lost twin, audience members are invited to bring their twin, real or merely dressed alike, for the price of one ticket. Ends September 27.

EXPECT snappy one-liners and Manhattan angst in Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park at the Bridewell Theatre from Tuesday. The comedy about a pair of blissful newly-weds moving into their first, shoebox apartment was inspired by the famous New York writer’s own marriage. A Q & A with director and cast follows the Thursday performance. Until September 13.

A DOUBLE helping of comedy at the Bloomsbury Theatre from Friday. First up, award-winning musical comedian Tim Minchin tickles ribs and piano keys in Ready For This? on Friday 5 and Saturday 6. RAW, a selection of uncut and up-and-coming American comedians, hosted by New York legend, Ali, follows the week after.
