True horror of Darfur

HOW LONG IS NEVER? DARFUR - A RESPONSE
Tricycle Theatre

TRUE horror has such weight that it threatens to crush both compassion and art.
This attempt by young writers and actors to examine the ongoing tragedy of Darfur’s brutal and under-acknowledged Arabisation‚ highlights two of the heaviest weapons used against Sudan’s people – gang rape and murder.
In short pieces that vary from tableaux to satirical skits, these plays examine the human scale of victimhood and the West’s delicate manoeuvres to avoid the dreaded word genocide.
The plays are an excellent reminder that proper reportage from Darfur is almost non-existent.
With profits going to Darfur through the Aegis Trust and Medecin Sans Frontieres, How Long is Never? will help disturb compassion’s sleep.
