In the wings

SIX British men fought for the fascists in the Spanish Civil War, now only one survives.
Human Remains, at the Canal Café Theatre in Little Venice, follows the last days of the last soldier.
Writer Jon Bonfiglio and director Tarek Iskander have experienced war at first hand, so this production promises a studied look at the fervour, ideology and guilt that war inspires.

ACTORS join the ranks of stand-up performers at Clerkenwell’s Turnmills bar, with an unusual concept – stand-up drama. London Bites offers ­theatre-lovers and industry professionals the chance to watch Equity card-carrying performers strut their stuff for five minutes each. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. 7.30pm. £10/8.

IN the present ­‘climate of fear’ in the western world, Arthur Miller’s play about the witch hunts of 17th-­century America seems ­prescient.
Talawa ­Theatre Company presents an adaptation of The Crucible at The Drill Hall in Chenies Street, August 9-11. £5/3.
