Brecht Fest celebrates works in translation

SATIRIST Rory Bremner turns Bertolt Brecht translator at the Young Vic next month.
Bremner, famed for his impressions of politicians such as Tony Blair, has translated A Respectable Wedding as part of the refurbished theatre’s current Brecht Festival.
The play is a gloriously funny account of the worst kind of family do.
It was written early in the German writer’s career – this is Bertolt before Brecht. The Brecht Fest, which runs until May 5, is made up of four short plays, running in The Maria and The Clare.
Other translations include Biyi Bandele’s Señora Carrar’s Rifles and Irish playwright Enda Walsh’s How Much Is Your Iron.
