Blackstreet are best known for their song No Diggity and their girlfriend/boyfriend track with “is she sexy or is she a man?” Janet Jackson.
They are an R’n’B institution and possibly the biggest American act to visit Camden Town since Madonna thrilled us at KOKO last November.
They’ve recorded with many rap greats – including Dr Dre – and have a colourful history of suing each other, flop records and love-in reunions.
They have never topped the commercial success of Another Level, which came out in 1996 and featured MTV and Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Hits entry No Diggity. But with that smash album lineup restored, including founding member Teddy Riley, water should be pouring from the walls – the Jazz Café should be that hot.
