Published: 8 March 2007

In the wings

HARRIET Walter narrates Shakespeare’s erotic poem Venus and Adonis in a puppet production at the Little Angel Theatre.

Directed by Gregory Doran, the RSC’s chief associate director, the show comes to Islington for a six-week run. Doran has introduced a Japanese twist to Shakespeare’s 1593 poem. From March 22 until April 28.

JOURNALIST and writer Jonathan Lennie has written a play about the bit players of history and their part in the demise of some of the great composers.

The series of plays were first heard on BBC Radio 4 last October. See them performed at the Red Hedgehog stage in Archway Road from March 15 for three weeks.

LORD Byron’s lost play Manfred is being performed for the first time since 1817.

The play, full of incest and blasphemy, was banned. Almost two centuries later it is being performed at the King’s Head in a one-off performance this Sunday.
