An inspired production

MONTEVERDI’S Orfeo, a retelling of the Orpheus myth, returns to ENO after 25 years, in a co-production with the Handel and Haydn Society of Boston.
Premiered in Mantua in 1607, it is the longest surviving work in the repertoire from those extraordinary experiments at the turn of the 16th century, aiming to recreate a form of ancient Greek tragedy, that resulted in the new art form of opera. > more
