Letters to the Editor

Please don't knock the cops

• Regarding rumours that Kentish Town Police Station is due to be closed, I have checked this and found it to be untrue.
The reception office at Kentish Town Police Station has been recently refurbished. Some people say there were more police around in the old days, but Labour is putting police back on the streets again. The Safer Neighbourhoods Scheme will see police and support officers on the streets in every ward in Camden, including my own ward, Kentish Town.
Just how do the Lib Dems intend to protect Camden citizens, when they knock the police, they are critical of anti-social behaviour orders (Asbos) – used by Camden to get drug dealers out of council estates and out of Camden.
Labour has invested in community safety, with more wardens and wider CCTV coverage, clamping down on street drinking and most crucially investing in more youth facilities. We should work with the police to make Camden a safer place. Lib Dems are knocking our hard-working police because they have nothing to say on crime.
