Estate agent denies £420,000 swindle charges

A HIGH-FLYING Hampstead estate agent has been arrested and charged with theft in an alleged scam worth more than £400,000.
Malcolm Green, 38, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.
Facing 18 separate criminal charges, he is accused of swindling money from a mentally-ill client by transferring cash and shares into his own name.
The two men first met two years ago.
Mr Green is also accused of stealing jewellery from the alleged victim’s home.
The total value of the charges is around £422,000, the court heard.
Under the terms of a special injunction, the complainant’s name was not revealed in court.
Mr Green, wearing a suit, tie and glasses, spoke only briefly during the short court hearing. He denies all the charges.
The case will be heard at crown court later this year.
Company records list Mr Green, who lives in Oakwood Road, Barnet, as the director of Greenfields, first incorporated in May 1994.
The firm has handled the sale of several high-value homes in Camden and overseas.
