Comic hosts benefit to help keep babies smiling

Star’s babies received ‘exceptional’ treatment at Bart’s children’s hospital

TOP comedy presenter Wayne Saunders never forgot the wonderful life-saving care his two young babies received from staff at Bart’s children’s hospital.
Now Wayne will say thank to the nurses and doctors at special star-studded benefit night later this month at his Comedy Café in Shoreditch.
Comedians will be raising laughter along with much needed funds and a selection of excellent prizes will also be given out on the night through a charity raffle.
Lee Mack, Bafta Award winner and host of popular TV series ‘They Think Its All Over’, will appear on stage with fellow comedians Rob Rouse, (star of BBC 3’s ‘Comedy Shuffle’ and C4’s ‘Friday Night Project’) and Greg Davis (of ‘We are Klang’, winner of the Spirit of the Fringe award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006). Wayne said: “Both my sons Samuel, four months and Jacob 3, had complications when they were born and were cared for at Barts and The London Children’s Hospital.
“My wife and I were delighted with the care they both received and the staff were exceptional.
“This charity night is one way I can say thank them”.
Wayne added that young Samuel had needed a delicate stomach and windpipe operation and he was in a particularly bad way.
“The staff were absolutely wonderful and they did a marvellous job. He seems to have recovered now.”
The Bart’s and The London Children’s Hospital is said to have the busiest A&E department in London and provides the highest level of expertise and care for thousands of children across the UK every year
Lucy Thomas, Senior Fundraising Manager for The Children’s Fund, said: “We’d like to say a special thank you to the Comedy Café and the comedians who donated their time for free.”
Barts and The London Children’s Hospital is a leading specialist paediatric centre. It has 130 acute beds for children, including premature baby cots, and has London’s busiest paediatric Accident and Emergency department. The hospital cares for more than 40,000 children and young people each year, from London, Essex and across the UK.
