Reunited are the peacemakers
THREE pacifists who organised the first Aldermaston march
in 1958 and adopted the famous nuclear disarmament symbol for
CND were reunited at Housman’s bookshop on Thursday.
April Carter, Pat Arrowsmith and Michael Randle were at the
launch of a new bibliography of non-violent action at the radical
bookshop.
Mr Randle, who lectures peace studies at Bradford University
believes young activists need to realise the importance of non-violent
strategies.
He said: “ We were the ones that organised the first Aldermaston
march and adopted Hugh Brock’s symbol for CND when it was
founded. It’s nice to be back with the old gang.”
