Letters to the Editor

Nurses who smoke should wait before resuming work

• I AM not a medically-qualified person hearing about the large number of the superbug MRSA cases at The Royal Free Hospital, I wonder whether nurses who are smokers allow some time – say 30 minutes – to elapse, before they resume their duties?
I mention 30 minutes, because domiciliary nurses are apparently asking their patients to sign undertakings that they will not smoke for half an hour before a patient visit – so that the nurses will not be subjected to the deadly cocktail of chemicals from smokers.
