Letters to the Editor

It's a right load of old rubbish!

• CONGRATULATIONS to Camden Council for finally opening the New Swiss Cottage spotts centre – only a couple of years and a few million pounds over budget.
But I am disappointed that no one has pointed out that every single public element has been downgraded. For example the football pitch. In fact it is a single tennis court though it’s no use for tennis. There’s not enough surrounding space.
There are schools on Eton Avenue with four tennis courts for just a couple of hundred students, yet one inadequate tennis court is enough for the whole of NW3.
Returning to the much-vaunted new pool, the boast of having 25 metre lanes shows a deficit of the former amounting to 20 per cent loss of space.
Inside the building there are tier upon tier of fitness bicycles. Who wants them? Who knows?
I am angry about this whole mess because this is our land, our money. They could have got more for our money.
To spend £178 million for less is negligence of a high degree and the results will be obvious to see forever.
