Mein Fuhrer's
£450 court bill
A DOG named Mein Fuhrer has landed his owner with a £450
bill after terrorising other pets on Hampstead Heath.
Owner Shalako James, 53, failed to appear at Highbury Corner
Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The court was told that,
when asked why the Staffordshire bull terrier was off a lead,
James told Heath police: “To do its toilet and run after
a dog on heat.”
James, of Hargrave Park, Archway, was charged with breaching
by-laws in September and October last year by failing to keep
his dog under control. He was fined £250 and ordered to
pay £200 costs.
Representing Heath guardian the City of London, Ru Rahman told
the court the dog was known to officers as “friendly but
muscular”.
PC Stephen Waugh said: “I could see the Staffordshire terrier
running from person to person and dog to dog. I told Mr James
to call it. I saw it running towards another dog. I could see
the owner getting worried.”
On another occasion, Heath sports recreational manager Thomas
Crick had to restrain the dog after a woman complained about
its behaviour. It was held in a cage until James arrived.
Also fined on Friday for breaching Heath by-laws was Paul Hallinan,
who was caught riding his scooter on a path in June last year.
Hallinan, 19, of Great Percy Street, King’s Cross, was
fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs. He was
not in court. |
