THE first time I met Man Like Me frontman Johnny Langer, at this year’s Camden Crawl, his mild-mannered politeness came as a real shock.
Seven months on and I bumped into him at the Camden Crawl launch at the Blues Kitchen last week – same humble demeanour offstage, ultra respectful, yet a confident charismatic frontman onstage. He told me they’re playing the Jazz Café on November 26.

l Who said there’s no room for politics in modern music? The mostly Czech bar staff at the Dublin Castle have planned a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism, with Czech bands and beer on November 15.

• Camden hip-hop supremo Blee – yes, that’s his name – releases his hot new album Respect Your Legacy today. The launch party’s at The Rhythm Factory, Whitechapel, on November 18.

• Not sure if losing Paul Heaton makes them less annoying but if you want to see for yourself, The Beautiful South – now New Beautiful South – support Sandi Thom at the 02 Academy Islington on Sunday.

• Levi’s Ones to Watch revues have become loved for their impeccable taste in rising stars. The final five-night revue of this year includes Marina & The Diamonds, Crystal Fighters, Sky Larkin, Alex Metric, MPHO, and The Whip (November 16 to 20) at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen and Cargo.
