Grooves

PROUD Camden loves those big names – the press release for Tuesday night’s Rainforest Foundation benefit gig, hosted by Sting and Trudi Styler, name-dropped George Clooney and Johnny Depp as guests. From what I could tell in the dim Stables lights they were absent, but Michael Jackson’s best friend Uri Geller and Thandie Newton were there to show their support.
Sting, with white shirt open just low enough to show off sunburn and a wild beard, played Every Breath You Take, Fields of Gold and Message in a Bottle, accompanied by a double bassist who he picked up busking in Notting Hill the previous day.
Camden’s own Ms Dynamite was on form, playing new single Lion’s Den, with The Nextmen (see Record of the Week).

Willy Mason is pitching up with a rare show at St Giles Church next Wednesday (October 14).
There are promises of a special set with friends and family members so it sounds like a good one.

We named them Record of the Week last month and now they’re coming to the Lexington.
Kill it Kid and their crazy country ways will be playing their messy fiddle-ridden blues on Tuesday (October 13).

The Camden Head is holding a three-band spectacular on Tuesday.
The acts have been picked by Music website Muso’s Guide so expect to hear good things. Bethia Beadman sings solo, before joining her band Arrows of Love, who have been picked out as the Independent’s Band of the Week, and Extradition Order headline.

The latest additions to the Little Noise Sessions line-up at the Union Chapel next month include Chipmunk, The King Blues, Erik Hassle, Alex Gardener and Ellie G oulding.
