Billy Bragg - appearing at the Camden Crawl
Legends all set to lead way at the Crawl

PREVIEW - CAMDEN CRAWL
Various venues

THIS weekend sees the return of the annual weekend of madness and music that is the Camden Crawl, so cancel all plans and get queueing!
This year’s line-up is yet another belter, with erstwhile legends such as psychedelic Mersey kings Echo and The Bunnymen, John Peel favourites The Fall, political rabble-rouser Billy Bragg (pictured), Mancunian house masters 808 State and even a series of guerilla gigs courtesy of the irrepressible Madness.
Then there is a tantalising selection of more modern-day luminaries such as Scottish indie-punk stars Idlewild, Leicester’s finest Kasabian, and the wonderful Karen O and her Yeah Yeah Yeahs. And, of course, no Crawl would be complete without lashings of legends-in-the-making, with this year’s ones to watch coming in the form of London-based-but-New-York-bred three-piece, Little Death.
Not to mention the debut of the Red Bull Bedroom Jamm X-Crawl.
With host venues including The Hawley Arms, Lock Tavern, Jazz Cafe, Koko, Dublin Castle, The Good Mixer and Roundhouse, the Crawl is an event steeped in a rich Camdonian tradition belying its own, relatively short history.
With a range of daytime activities including comedy and spoken word events, there will be something for everyone – not to mention the great British pastime that is waiting in a long queue and having a right good moan about it. To miss this would be a Crawl blow indeed
