The Review - MUSIC - grooves with RóISíN GADELRAB
Published: 2 April 2009

YOU know these are frightening times when a multi-billion-pound corporation like Sony tells you they haven’t enough money to buy press tickets for Bob Dylan at the Roundhouse.
Instead, it was suggested to me, that our little old independent paper should try to buy a ticket – never mind that they have been sold out for days. Sorry readers, unless you’re one of the few to get in, you’ll just have to imagine this historic appearance – I’ll be too busy recovering from the Camden Crawl anyway.

* Former Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley may have gone solo but she did a fantastic job backing Bat for Lashes, who showcased her stunning new album at the Hard Rock Cafe on Tuesday – while a glowing Amy Winehouse looked on.
Some have criticised Charlotte for putting her solo work on hold but why shouldn’t she have side projects? When I interviewed Babyshambles’ Drew McConnell the other week he said he never understood why people always asked him if his band had split just because they enjoyed doing their own thing. See review next week.

* I’ve heard Pete Doherty plays Proud later this month. Watch this space.

* Don’t forget my favourite Northern Soul DJ Bioux launches Boom Boom at Bloomsbury Ballrooms tomorrow Friday – that’s a lot of oooooo’s. It’s going to be a wild one so clear your evening.
