The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS

Grooves

WHETHER or not you were there for the heady days of the 1990s rave scene, there is, arguably, one song that epitomises it.
Baby D’s Let Me Be Your Fantasy, a massive club hit in 1994, still gets the boys pulling out their old chopping board dance moves more than 10 years on.
Baby D are due to appear at a Jam T-shirt event at Bar Vinyl in Inverness Street on Sunday.
Moving away from rave and on to Budgie. No, not the fluffy type your nan loves to listen to squawking away, but the metallers who rawk on. Not so pensioner friendly, even if the band are old enough for freedom passes.
I thought it was worth mentioning that Budgie – the Welsh group credited with being one of heavy metal’s pioneers and the inspiration behind some of the biggest-known bands in the world today, including Metallica, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest – are playing the Underworld in July.
But believe it or not, Budgie are not set to be the biggest thing to hit Camden this July. Although it’s still all under wraps, a little birdie told me (see what I did there) a huge musical event is planned for this summer.
You’ve had the Electric Proms and the Camden Crawl – expect this to offer some of the world’s biggest musical stars.
More information to follow soon.
