Demo of the Week
The More Assured

THE More Assured need no assurances from me that they and the rest of their ‘Way Out West’ musical scene are on their way.
Gearing up to release their first single ‘All in Your Head’ in January, the foursome are fearsomely on the horizon, and are even being managed by the singer of the heavily hyped Les Incompetents, Billy Leeson, who hit the headlines when he went into a coma after being attacked.
With two Camden boys in the band, including a racily named bass player called Slinky Sunbeam – who can often be seen outside clubs handing out flyers and demos wearing a woolly hat and a big smile – this upbeat indie band have already found favour among the teenage trendies.
How can you not laugh with an act who sing about wanting to be a sex offender “I want to offend you with my sex,” or their bitter experiences about a particular venue (the Troubadour Club) while gigging on the London circuit.
With intelligent and witty songwriting and the most cheerfully sung melancholia this side of the Euston Road, how could The More Assured not be assured? They even have two Myspace pages along with their own website. Keep fighting the dodgy record deals lads, you’ve gotta get a good one.

• If you want your demo reviewed, please send it in to Grooves, 40 Camden Road, London NW1 9DR.
