The Review - Music - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS

Demo of the Week
D.MONG

TWO TIPS for you if you’re planning to watch grunge metallers D.Monic at the Bull and Gate on Saturday: practise some zombie dance moves before you go, and, whatever you do, don’t wear white.
If you’ve always wondered why the metal/ goth community don dark clothes, this could offer an explanation – this Enfield band like to throw the claret around, while their promo pictures look like a still from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
So refresh yourself with Thriller, and don’t just go because it’s Halloween – these scary metalheads are a lot more than a gimmick. Their best track, Bleed Alone (‘Together forever, bleed alone’), is a screaming pop song with great lyrics and a driving bass line.
Sounding like the kind of band all teens would fall in love with, and even a little bit like Nirvana, who D.Monic credit as an influence, they are as yet unsigned but picking up fans across the globe.

• If you want your demo reviewed, please send it in to Grooves, 40 Camden Road, London NW1 9DR.
