Roundhouse draws ’em in

The Roundhouse
IN the ’60s the Roundhouse played host to Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and the Doors only UK gig.
Now, 40 years later, and after a £30-million facelift, organisers have been putting on such show-stoppers that you wonder how we ever survived without the place.
The BBC Electric Proms, which runs from October 25-29, has drawn the likes of the Zutons, The Who, Kasabian, and godfather of soul James Brown.
Now the Roundhouse is offering youngsters the chance to take part.
In a week of great activities kids aged 13-18 can record their own tracks in the EMI recording studio and take part in an Electric Prom soundcheck.
They can shoot their own documentary of the big event – with backstage access.
There’s the chance to work with a BBC crew, and edit your work in the Roundhouse studio.
There’s even the chance for your band to get tips from top professionals, and possibly play or watch a two-day extravaganza of performances from up and coming bands, hosted by BBCs Radio One and 1Xtra.
On top of that, there’s also a season of training for 11-25s, including acting, TV and music production, photography, radio dj-ing, engineering, animation, singing, web and game design, and music video editing.
