The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS
Published: 15 March 2007

CAMDEN’S very own Dublin Castle – and the hardworking promotions team behind it, Bugbear – have been shortlisted in the Indy Awards.
The awards recognise the best venues and promotions teams, and the standout artists they have showcased in the last year.
So get voting for the Parkway pub at www.indyawards.co.uk, and see if they romp home when they attend the ceremony in May, hosted by Virgin Radio presenter Greg Burns.
Another great club, the Luminaire in Kilburn, will hear this week if it has been crowned national venue of the year by music industry bible Music Week.
Another Camden establishment in the running is Kentish Town’s Forum. Apart from the fact that they’re up against stiff competition in the shape of Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut – which won last year – and Wembley Arena, really they should be sizing up each other.
While the Luminaire won Time Out’s venue of the year in 2006, it has also been at the forefront of a Kilburn revival. More recently The Good Ship has been putting on some great acts, and on Friday the Westbury, a new hip hop/house type bar opened.
And of course the Forum puts on great line-ups week in month out. The most recent of which is the Anti-Slavery evening next Sunday.
