Scissor Sisters really do cut it

IF everything you read is to be believed then camp showman extraordinaire Jake Shears, of Scissor Sisters fame, has been slagging off their second album Ta-Dah. Well I never – artists are not usually so straight talking and honest.
But that won’t hold the gay icons back – they’re doing a special charity gig at Koko featuring a West End Girls duet with Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant.
The irritatingly smug comedian Ben Elton is compering – but don’t let that keep you away.
Even the whopping £100 shouldn’t be balked at – all proceeds are going towards a state-of-the-art holistic health centre for both those living with HIV and their families.
The centre is already under construction and is due to open in Rosebery Avenue in Islington in the spring.
The last time the Scissor Sisters did a one-off event at Trafalgar Square half of London turned up, and one diminutive antipodean made her first public appearance after a cancer scare.
These are big ‘do’s’, in other words.
It seems appropriate now that Kylie attended that gig – in light of this one – and maybe, just maybe, she’ll be back for another helping.
It all also falls into place when you find out that frontwoman Ana Matronic is a patron of organisers Body and Soul.
And this ain’t just any old shindig – it’s being supported by ‘credibility bible’ music mag Q.
And I thought they were just a pop act.
