Headteacher Michael Shew to leave Acland Burghley

Michael Shew

THE headteacher at one of Camden's biggest secondary schools is to leave the job after eight years in charge.
Michael Shew said was announcing his decision to leave Acland Burghley Secondary School in Burghley Road, Tufnell Park with “some sadness”.
He plans to move on in July 2010.
“The last eight years have been the most fulfilling and rewarding ones in my working life and I’ve been very proud to be part of a school that plays such an important role in providing an inclusive education for all pupils in the local community,”
Mr Shew said in a message parents on Monday. “This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but after 12 years as a headteacher in two London comprehensive schools I feel that the end of this year is the right time for me to move on to a different role.”
Ofsted rated the school as 'good' in its most recent report with inspectors confident that it provides students the opportunity to succeed.
Former students include singer Ms Dynamite and Sarah Brown, the Prime Minister's wife.
Mr Shew said: “I’m making the announcement now so that the governing body has plenty of time to hold the interviews for the next headteacher by Easter to ensure that a new headteacher is appointed to start in September 2010 to continue to take the school forward and build on Acland Burghley’s success.”

back then

Could anyone put me in touch with 'survivors' from the old Burghley Road school back in the 1940's? This 'old boy' getting awfully nostalgic about headmasters Buzbee, Bradford, and the best teacher I ever had in my life, Mr. Stride.
