Kentish Town on road to Wembley

FORGET the start of the new Premier League season on Saturday, the road to Wembley begins for Kentish Town Football Club this weekend.
The Townies begin only their second ever campaign in the FA Cup – the world’s most famous knockout competition – at the Middlesex Stadium in Ruislip with a match against Hillingdon Borough. It is a preliminary qualifying round – the very beginning of this year’s tournament.
Both teams play in the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League. Kentish Town FC have never been further than this stage and only merited inclusion in the competition for the first time last year after promotions through non-league football.
Counting down to the big kick-off, new manager Rakatahr Hudson said: “We know we’re the underdogs, but we go into every game believing we can win and Saturday is no exception.
“Hillingdon are one of the strongest teams in our league, but we’re confident we can cause an upset. When we perform at out best, we can beat anyone.”
Director of football Frank Zanre, who founded the club will be among the crowd.
Kick off is at 3pm. Anyone interested in going along should visit www.kentishtownfc.com for details on how to get to the ground. > more
