West End Extra - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 June 2009

Look who’s taken that parking space away from you – again

• THE so-called visitor parking scheme introduced in St John's Wood recently needs an urgent review.
Promoted as a way of enabling residents, friends and visitors to park, it has turned out to be just another Westminster Conservative money-making scam with many residents unable to park!
Many residents have contacted me to complain that the city council is now double-selling parking spaces.
The council already sells more parking permits than there are parking spaces.
Now the Conservatives are selling some of those spaces again, this time to casual parkers.
As ever with the city council, don’t believe the expensive spin – they are after your money and your parking space.
And many St John’s Wood residents now know this to their cost. The council say that this scheme will be reviewed in six months’ time. That is far too long to wait. We need a review now.
Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg
Leader of the Labour Group,
City Hall, SW1
