Kids set to bloom in summer scheme
A PIONEERING summer fun scheme for children is up and running again thanks to lottery cash.
The St John’s Wood Adventure Playground and Salusbury World Refugee Centre is open again and an action-packed summer play scheme is planned.
Happy children this week met at the playground to see what the team had in store for them this weekend.
Children will be able to take part in a circus skills workshop and join an African dance class.
Outings have been arranged to Epping Forest and the Willows Farm. Children will also have a chance to visit the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and go boating in Regent’s Park.
A £4,000 lottery grant has meant the scheme can continue this summer.
Senior co-ordinator Steve Derby said: “All children need to play, those of refugee background, whose lives have been badly disrupted have a particular need. It’s great to welcome these children and see them make new friends.”
