Marylebone’s own hogwarts

WORLD authorities on wizardry descended on the University of Westminster at the weekend for an academic conference on Harry Potter.
Leading experts from Sydney to Alaska debated “the end” while hundreds of potty fans read JK Rowling’s final instalment through the night.
The event, called by a global network of Harry Potter fans, called Sectus, transformed the college’s New Cavendish campus, Marylebone, into their very own Hogwarts.
Professors dressed as wizards and warlocks spoke to a capacity crowd in the university’s lecture hall. Topics included:
JK Rowling’s use of
• Victorian flower symbolism.
• Trash or triumph?
• Where do we go from here?
Rowling’s fictional sport Quidditch, played on flying-broomsticks in the Harry Potter series, was recreated in Regent’s Park and there were lessons in costuming, tarot reading and potion making.
A shipment of books was delivered to the campus at midnight by Marylebone Books and fans read through the night to discover the fates of Harry, Hermione and Ron Weasley.
