Church leaves little snowy out in the cold
A HISTORIC church has come under fire from a dog walker over its inclusion policy – after a tiny terrier called Snowy was barred from its public gardens.
Church cats roam freely in the hallowed grounds of St Paul’s in Covent Garden.
But dogs are banned for fear they will scare the mice-catchers away.
Reverend Simon Grigg explained: “We have church cats to keep down the mice and, obviously, cats and dogs don’t go together.
“Many people eat their lunch on the lawns and we don’t want dog poo everywhere, and many homeless have dogs with them, which causes us problems.”
Katie Corr, who lives in Marylebone, said: “That’s one rule for one animal, and another for another. I told the Rector – that’s not very Christian, is it?”
The church rules were revealed on Friday morning after Mr Grigg challenged
Ms Corr.
She refused to go because there are no ‘no dogs’ signs and even called the police.
Ms Corr said: “He is a terrier tinier than Tin Tin’s dog. I was sitting with Snowy quietly but I was told I had to leave. There was no poo. I had my pooper-scooper. I was incensed.” |
