The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS
Published: 8 November 2007

I HEARD a funny story about the Camden Town rap trio Ndubz last week.
A friend of mine, interviewing them in a Mornington Crescent café, said he was shocked as the kids piled up outside the door.
“You never expect pop stars to actually be genuinely popular with the teenage fans,” he told me wisely, adding: “But everybody knew who Ndubz were. They were walking past the café, spotting them and then hanging around for an autograph.”
That’s definitely pop straight from the streets and not your manufactured malarkey.
Ndubz – first seen in these pages last year – have gone from strength to strength and recently won a Mobo award.
Another musical phenomenon, Platform12, are hosting their penultimate adventure at the Key nightclub in Goods Way, King’s Cross, this weekend. Held in the warehouse-style building once home to rave club Bagleys, the whole place is being renovated next year and is due to be turned into a shopping village.
Although the club may be moving to a building nearby – depending on planning applications and the agreement of the developer Argent – the days of clubbing at the Key are numbered.
As are your chances of seeing Platform12’s creator Clive Morley, who is gracing the decks one last time before moving to pastures new (and sunnier).
Bag your place in the queue while you still can I say.
