De Saram back on stage
HAVING spent three years studying an undergraduate degree at Oxford, violinist Mandhira de Saram is keen to re-establish her live performance experiences.
“I used to do a lot but with studying it was a bit difficult,” she said as she prepared for a concert this Saturday at St John’s in Downshire Hill with pianist Gregory Martin.
The programme features Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor, Debussy’s Sonata in G Minor, Tchaikovsky’s Meditation and Prokofiev Sonata No 2 in D.
Mandhira, who grew up in Hampstead, is clearly a musician to be reckoned with. She graduated with a first-class honours degree and was the winner of the Worcester College Arts Prize.
She is now doing an M Phil at Oxford in musicology and performance.
So this concert could be something special.
