Pick of the Indies
AGIT PROP cinema makes a welcome return to the Renoir on Sunday with a series of stimulating shorts organised by the London socialist film co-op.
Amongst the films on offer are Dear Mrs Blair, a moving 15 minute video letter to Cherie Blair from Glaswegian mother Rose Gentle who lost her son Gordon in Iraq three years ago and an extract from Who Shot the Sheriff? a documentary about Rock against Racism.
The Ladies Bridge meanwhile asks why an estimated 24,000 female construction workers, included the women during the Second World War who built Waterloo Bridge, seem to have been completely written out of history.

IF you like your cinema a tad more indulgent, head to the Everyman in Hampstead over the weekend for two foodie-themed screenings. Like Water for Chocolate, Alfonso Arau’s Oscar-nominated celebration of life, love and chocolate is preceded by a gourmet chocolate tasting to add to the experience.
Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, meanwhile, needs little introduction – voluptuous starlet Anita Ekberg wading through the Trevi Fountain is one of the iconic images of 20th century cinema. Don’t miss this one.
