Crimea proud to be back here
PREVIEW: CRIMEA
At proud
CAMDEN’S most up and coming band, the Crimea, are doing a residency at Camden’s most ‘happening’ bar, At Proud in the Stables Market.
Promoting their second album Secrets of the Witching Hour, frontman Davey Macmanus says of the music industry: “The ups and downs involve being signed to two major labels and then being dropped by them, having four years of pseudo-fame and then being back on a building site.”
John Peel was the first DJ to give them a chance after Davey passed him their record near to the Radio One building in Great Portland Street. “I gave it to him when I was sweeping the street. He was the first guy that put faith in us,” he said. Not a bad endorsement is it?
See them At Proud on Wednesday March 27, Tuesday April 10 and Wednesday April 11. Tickets are £6 on the door. If you want to hear them beforehand – you’d better hope Davey hands you a CD in the street. Or you can go to www. myspace.com/thecrimea.
