Grooves
SHANE MacGowan is tipped to visit Camden next Friday. Hero to the coolest pop stars around, and former wild frontman of the Pogues, he is the man with no teeth who is loved by everybody’s dad – nay, make that everyone.
If he turns up it’s sure to be the gig of the month. And at a venue like the Underworld, mayhem is certain to ensue when he gets onstage with his former band the Popes, who play Pogues’ songs along with their own material.
I’ll see you there with my Dad.
And if you need a tonic for a night of hedonism then nearby Green Note have the answer.
Starting next Saturday, they will be holding a new slot called Coffee Culture. From 2-5 pm, you can sit back and relax with a veggie special – it’s an animal loving café – and listen to some of the most talented roots, blues and folk music around, interspersed with short films, poetry and performance artists.
It shouldn’t be too civilised or it’ll give vegetarians a bad name! Maybe MacGowan will show?
Green Note, 106 Parkway, NW1.
