Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 21 August 2009

Work wins approval

• MONEY towards the Quaker Court scheme was obtained from EC1 New Deal for Communities following requests from residents and the Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) to improve security on the estate (Security breaches, August 14). The works were allocated to one of the framework contractors that Homes for Islington (HfI) uses, as these have proved effective in delivering projects for residents in terms of quality and value for money.
Far from cutting out competition, these framework contractors have been used following a full tendering process. The contractors chosen were selected on the basis of price and quality.
This process has meant we have a number of contractors working on estates rather than a single company. Independent resident satisfaction surveys have shown the vast majority of residents are pleased with work carried out.
PETER TAUNTON
Director of property services, Homes for Islington
