Your very good health: a safe drinking message

AN advertising campaign encouraging festive revellers to drink responsibly has been launched by Islington Council.
“Some things you only do when you’re drunk” shows four messy situations like being pick-pocketed or getting bottled in the street to deter people from getting drunk during the party season.
The advertisements appear in bus shelters, pubs and clubs.
The campaign includes two text numbers providing safe travel numbers, such as licensed cab information.
Islington is home to more than 1,100 licensed premises and alcohol-related disorder accounted for 10 per cent of all crime in 2006.
Councillor Marisha Ray, executive member for community safety, said: “We want people to have a great time, take care of themselves getting home safely and show consideration for the local community.
“We also do a lot of work with our partners such as licensees, the Met and fire brigade to ensure local clubs, bars and restaurants provide a safe environment for customers.
“We have recognised some of the borough’s safe and enjoyable venues by presenting the council’s new Best
Bar None award to some of the pubs and clubs who go the extra mile to promote
safety for their clients and the local community.”
