Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 2 March 2007

Call a halt to growth

• WHY must London’s economy continue to grow, as your correspondent from Network Rail says (How we can limit impact of rail work, February 16)? There is a limit to the amount of growth we can sustain.
He also asserts that London’s population is “projected to increase by nearly a million by 2025”. London’s population is far too large already at more than seven million. If we are going to have to supply even more water, gas, electricity and so on for all these extra people, to mention nothing of more houses, schools and health centres, then we are laying up trouble for the future.
There has to be more sensible planning for London.
