Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 October 2009

Memories of our Ken

• THE unveiling of the blue plaque for Kenneth Williams on Marchmont Street (October 15) reminded me how I used to see Williams cycling around King’s Cross. He never seemed to forget his roots and was a King’s Cross man through and through. He was very polite to people from the area and would often attend local community festivals.
Given his strong local links to Marchmont Street, I am delighted that this plaque has gone up outside his childhood home.  I walk past there every day and it fills me with great pride that the King’s Cross boy-done-good has been recognised at last.
Plaques tend to go to obscure writers who no one has ever heard of and for once the bodies have got things right with this one.
