Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 10 September 2009

Veal lives

• SO Alsa Pain (Letters, September 3) wants us to buy only British veal, but fails to say what a horrible bloody business veal production is.
Like all the monstrous so-called livestock industry.
Calves are taken from their mothers, confined into small “crates”, fed an unnatural diet, that turns their flesh almost white, and then slaughtered.
But before that hell, most calves are forced to be transported abroad to feed the overfed veal meat junkies.
The obvious way to abstain from such cruelty is to abstain from eating meat entirely. That might also help stop the outbreaks of obesity in the rich world.
