Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 19 February 2009

Kick start the economy

• AS a student, I don’t pay council tax.
Nonetheless I was thrilled to hear that Camden Conservatives successfully froze the rate of our council tax for the next two years.
Day in and day out I learn that the most effective way to kick-start an economy, be it local or otherwise, is through a reduced rate of taxation.
By putting money back in the hands of people, they go out and spend.
To deal with the new surge of customers coming into their stores, they employ (normally) local people, and the tax reduction results in a positive injection into the local and national economy.
Over the next two years, I am looking forward to my high street, Hampstead, returning to its old self.
Thank you Camden Conservatives for giving us our high streets back.
