Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 14 August 2008

No mandate to be puppet Tories

• I READ with interest Meric Apak’s recent letters about democracy in your paper and wonder if our politicians in power realise that winning an election does not give them a mandate to do what they like.
Election victories merely give them a mandate to listen to voters in between elections and to act on consultation results. I was one of those voters who voted in protest against Labour and decided to give the Liberal Democrats a chance.
What I did not do is to give them a mandate to become Tory puppets!
