Sharp Town so unlucky

Spartan South Midlands League
Division 1
Bedford FC 1, Kentish Town 0

TOWN travelled to Bedfordshire for their third league match in seven days hoping to build on a fine 2-1 midweek win at Harpenden Town.
The exhausting schedule proved too much for the team, however, with the home side edging a close fought match played out amid a strong wind.
Manager Frank Zanre was unbowed afterwards, however. He said: “We deserved a point at least and we will bounce back.
“But it’s disappointing that our two defeats so far have been by the odd goal when we created a lot of chances and haven’t been outplayed.”
Town soaked up early pressure from the home attack and almost took the lead after Stevie Nicolaou headed agonisingly wide eight yards out.
On the 26 minute mark, Alexie Nicolaou had a half chance to open the scoring from a Jonathan Donoghue cross and on the half hour, the marksman spun a defender to break clear, only for the linesman to blow for a push.
The same player missed the best chance of the half after a defence-splitting pass from Ossie Barkat but his effort was straight at the keeper.
Town had the wind in their favour at the restart but on 59 minutes the visitors conceded a free kick 35 yards out and a perfectly flighted ball was delivered to the far post for Chris Huckle to fire the ball into the top right hand corner.
Town made changes with Sharrif Sufi coming on for Stevie Nicolaou and Anthony Dowsett replacing Alexie Nicolaou and Town continued to press for a leveller.
Paul Butler forced a fine save from the home keeper but time ran out for Town.
Town travel to Ampthill Town on Saturday ahead of a visit to Hoddesdon Town on August 29.
