Veggie restaurant forced to close

A MARYLEBONE restaurant which was one of only a handful of vegetarian restaurants in the capital has closed.
After seven years in Marylebone High Street, Eat and Two Veg, served its last customer on Sunday evening, forced out of business by the recession.
When it opened to great fanfare from critics in 2002, it quickly became the toast of vegetarians and vegans.
With its red vinyl booths, open-plan kitchen and 1950s car adverts, it had the feel of an American diner, but it was signature white wine and watercress sauce that pulled in the punters.
Around 25 staff have been made redundant.
Manager Jan Stafkiewicz said: “ We had a really loyal customer base. We will miss them and hopefully they will miss us. I think we converted a few people to give up meat and we had a real impact on that front.”
