Health centre opens

A PRIVATELY run health centre for NHS patients has opened in north Westminster.
The GP led health centre in Woodchester Square, Paddington, is open from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year for both registered and non-registered patients.
It will move to a permanent home on the Harrow Road in March 2010.
The service is being run by Kent-based Malling Health – a private firm run by GPs which has won contracts to run GP-led health centres across the country.
Malling Health director Dr Tom Reichhelm said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen to provide this exciting new centre.
“We see ourselves as an addition to existing NHS services and will work to complement the other providers of health and social care in the area.”
GP-led health centres are being introduced to move some hospital services into neighbourhood settings. The centre will provide extra health services including minor surgery, family planning, blood tests and many more.
