Cabbages and Frocks a Crufts for the day

THERE were no heists or Al Pacino cameos in this Dog Day Afternoon, as prize pooches were brushed up for Marylebone’s answer to Crufts on Saturday.

Now a biannual fixture at the popular Cabbages and Frocks Market, just off the high street, disciplines may be rather less familiar to those used to obstacle courses and obedience tests.
There were prizes for the waggiest tail, dog lookalikes, “a bit of ruff” for mixed breeds and the most prestigious of them all: best in show.
But it wasn’t all rosettes. There were stalls brimming with pet accessories and gourmet dog food, and some lucky pooches were even signed up for modelling deals.
