CND remembers bomb victims

MORE than 200 people attended the annual Hiroshima Day ceremony in Tavistock Square on Thursday.
The event organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, beside the commemorative Hiroshima cherry tree, is held in remembrance of the victims of the atomic bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 1945.
Labour MPs Jeremy Corbyn and Frank Dobson, the Mayor of Camden Faruque Ansari, the vice-president of CND Bruce Kent, and CND activist Pat Allen addressed the crowd.
There was singing from the Workers’ Music Association and poems read out by Ann Garrett, of Bromley and Beckenham CND.
The ceremony closed with a minute’s silence and flowers were left under the tree.
