Air gun attack on teen in street

A TEENAGER has suffered minor injuries after being shot in the back of the head with an air rifle.
Witnesses in New Compton Street say the gunman picked off the 19-year-old victim like a sniper from the balcony of a four-storey block just off Charing Cross Road on Wednesday.
While he was being treated at the scene, police sealed off the block by Phoenix Gardens, and negotiated with a male suspect in his house.
A Metropolitan Police Spokesman said an arrest had been made following the incident, which saw the road cordoned off for an hour and a half.
The spokesman added: “Police were called at 3.31pm today to reports of a man injured in New Compton Street.
“Local officers attended and found a man with head injuries. He is believed to have been shot with an air rifle.
“He is in a stable, non-life threatening condition and was treated at the scene.”
